Speaking with a pronounced Southern accent, you would never guess April Moseley has lived in many places other than the South in the last twenty years. April Lowe Moseley was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1967 and grew up in a very small town in Northern Georgia called Bostwick. Bostwick was so small, when she was young, this town wasn't even ON the Georgia map. Surrounded by more deer, dairy cows, horses, and assorted wildlife than people, April learned to appreciate animals and the quiet, beautiful realm in which they live. April has a great appreciation for wide open spaces and the magnificence of nature. She has often said, 'how can someone look at the endless ocean with its mighty waves or a majestic mountain or look at the immense detail in the markings of some animals and say there is no God?'.
April graduated from the University of Georgia in 1991 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Banking & Finance. She also has credits of 3 years worth of a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, which she never finished. April met and married a U.S. Navy Supply Corps Officer in 1994 and they have lived in many interesting places, all of which have influenced her art -Puerto Rico, Virginia Beach, Hawaii, Philadelphia, Coronado, San Diego, Alexandria, VA, Tampa, and Myrtle Beach. April was in a very bad car crash in 1995 while they were stationed in Puerto Rico - she almost lost her left arm and was paralyzed from the shoulder down for a while. She now has 3 metal plates in her arm. After recovering from that, she was determined to live life to its fullest and pursue her dreams.
April used to paint exclusively in oils, but she has started painting in acrylics as well now. Although she took some classes here and there (Honolulu Academy of Art-Basic Oil Painting, Palette Knife Classes under George Eguchi in Honolulu, and Drawing Class at Woodmere Art Museum, & several online courses) and has read many books on painting and has watched numerous videos on painting, she would be considered self taught by the art community. Self taught, but not unstudied. April started painting while she & her husband were stationed on Oahu in 2001. She has sold paintings at the Honolulu Zoo Fence Art Show, at Cottage Crafters Antique Mall in Langhorne, PA, at Austin's Gallery in Coronado, CA, on various ebay auctions, on her website, and through commissions. April particularly likes painting sunsets and paintings with lots of color. April was juried into The Shelter Island Art Association in San Diego back in late 2012. April & her husband recently moved to Myrtle Beach, SC in 2023. April was recently juried into the Seacoast Artists Guild and will begin selling paintings at Seacoast Artists Gallery in Myrtle Beach, SC in late April 2024. April is also a member of Waccamaw Arts & Crafts Guild and the National Oil & Acrylic Painters Society.
